1,300 Balls deployed to Haitian Villages by Meeting God In Baseball

Last week 1.300 balls were packed with a team of people going to the Dominican Republic.   This organization, Meeting God in Baseball, goes to Haitian and Dominican villages to share the love of God through the game of baseball .

As they packed up used mitts, balls, baseball bats and catchers gear they were determined to make room for tennis balls.   As I loaded the SUV with 1,300 tennis balls I wondered just  how many they could take.  I was surprised later that night when the text came and all 1,300 were packed.

But the best surprise of all was when the photos were posted to the facebook page.  You see,  only a few pictures were taken but 1 of the 5 was a photo of a little boy that I dearly love and spend much time with when I am there in a village over 90 minutes by cattle truck  from civilization.

Meet 4 year old Juansito.

.

So what is the likelihood of Meeting God in Baseball going to his village and taking a picture of him getting a ball?  Its as though God gave me a gift.   Its as though God perfectly orchestrated a series of people and events to put the ball in the hands of one that I personally love.  That was not a coincidence.  Not sure if you have ever had an encounter like that with God but it definately stopped me in my tracks.   He loves me that much that!

There is much greater joy in the giving than in the receiving!   Juansito you are precious to me.   Thank you Lord!

News Flash…Its not too late to give

Some of you have asked if its too late to give because you saw the Aug 31deadline. Well its not too late.   We are still accepting financial donations and new and gently used balls.  Since we cannot deploy 10000 balls all at the same time they will go out in stages, anyhow.   However, there is a sense of urgency because we would like to move our efforts away from fund raising and into the field.  So please consider your contribution sooner than later.

Tuesday Tally…… 5157 balls

I am so blessed that balls and funds have been donated to the tune of a total of 5157 balls.   God never ceases to amaze me with his accounting which never makes sense.    All this out of $100.      I am trusting that the last half will be provided for.    Thanking Him in advance for His faithfulness and you for your partnership. All for His Glory!

Why Balls and Not Food and Shelter?

Imagine living in this….

I know what your thinking.   Thats  a very good question and one my mom challenges me on.   Well, its an easy  question to answer because it is not an either or scenario.     When I go to the Dominican Republic I serve in many areas.    I have provided food to hungry villages and left my clothing behind bringing home an empty suit case so they have clothes to wear.  I have snuggled alongside families and just befriended them and prayed with them in their time of need.   In January, my plan is to go to Village 50 where living conditions are devastating.   I will be joining a construction team and we will be building new shelters that the termites will not invade. Oh, and I think I will take a few balls with me too for the kids.   The 10,000 Ball Challenge for Haitian Villages is just one of many ways that I reach out to touch others and be a difference maker.    Just curious, where is God calling you?

3615 Balls About to Bring Smiles to Kids in the Dominican Republic

We are 1/3 of the way there.  10,000 Balls is still the goal.    Who would have thought that a phone call to find how many balls I could get for $100 would turn into this.    There are going to be a lot of priceless smiles as kids receive their balls.  A ball is just the beginning of what skills kids learn in sports that will help them navigate through life.
